About Lekha

I work between architectural systems and emotional narratives.

My graduate work at Arizona State University focused on ecological urbanism, adaptive reuse, desert climate, and the spatial performance of thresholds. I am drawn to architecture that is not just seen, but felt, through shade, air, memory, material, and community.

I also bring two years of professional practice experience from India, where I worked directly under a principal architect on high-rise residential projects, design development, and architectural coordination. Across academic, professional, and written work, I aim to communicate design clearly, beautifully, and with purpose.

Design Philosophy

Lekha More graduation portrait at Arizona State University
Mumbai to Tempe, carrying questions of memory, climate, and belonging into architectural work.

Architecture should listen before it speaks.

My work is rooted in the belief that architecture is not just an object placed on land, but a living mediator between people, climate, ecology, and memory. I am drawn to spaces that filter light, invite air, hold shade, revive water, and create a sense of belonging.

Growing up in Mumbai and studying within the desert landscape of Arizona shaped my understanding of density, heat, adaptation, and community. Through projects like ECS and Colony_518, I explore architecture as a responsive system, one that protects fragile environments while creating meaningful human thresholds.

I am interested in design that does not overpower its context, but listens to it, learns from it, and gently transforms it.

01

Climate as Material

Heat, shade, wind, water, and light are not background conditions in my work. They become active design materials that shape comfort, form, and atmosphere.

Shade Cooling Light
02

Architecture as Threshold

I am drawn to spaces that sit between conditions, city and ecology, body and climate, public and private, permanence and movement.

Transition Memory Belonging
03

Community as Ecosystem

I see architecture as a social framework that can support care, shared resilience, and everyday rituals of gathering, protection, and repair.

Experience Timeline

Study, teaching, writing, practice, and ongoing design work.

A polished chronology of the roles and experiences shaping my architectural voice.

M.Arch, Arizona State University

Tempe, AZ

Completed graduate architectural study focused on ecological urbanism, adaptive reuse, desert climate, environmental systems, and spatial storytelling. My thesis work, Ecological Cooling Shores, explored architecture as a climate-responsive threshold between city, river, night, and ecology.

Teaching Assistant, DSC 101 Design Awareness

Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts

Supported design education through student feedback, assignment review, visual communication guidance, and creative process development. This role strengthened my ability to explain design clearly, evaluate ideas critically, and help students connect everyday observations to larger design principles.

Architectural Content Writer, The Architects Diary

Remote / India

Wrote research-led architectural articles on skyscraper design, sustainable materials, floating cities, Buddhist temples, and architectural history. This experience shaped my voice as a designer who can translate complex architectural ideas into accessible, engaging, and visually aware writing.

Architectural Designer

Residential, interior, and high-rise workflows

Worked directly under a principal architect on residential, interior, and high-rise design projects. Contributed to design development, drawings, coordination, facade thinking, and spatial planning while building a strong foundation in professional architectural workflows.
